Sorbond® and Quik-Solid®
Sorbond®
CETCO offers a broad range of innovative solidification and stabilization products. These easily applied products ensure compliance with federal disposal standards while offering a more cost-effective and safer approach to solidification, compared to utilizing lime, fly ash and other traditional solidification agents.
Applications
CETCO’s specialty absorbents and adsorbents are utilized to solidify soil, sediment, and sludge generated from dredging and general remediation operations. These unique products will efficiently solidify this material while stabilizing heavy metals and organic compounds if present.

Sorbond solidifies contaminated sediment which is then removed and sent to a disposal facility

Quik-Solid®
Quik-Solid is a solid, granular cross-linked polyacrylate advanced Superabsorbent Media that rapidly absorbs and retains large volumes of fresh water aqueous solutions. Its absorptive properties are ideally suited for the absorption and solidification of hazardous and non-hazardous waste waters, soils, and semi-solid matter. This high efficiency absorbent is capable of absorbing up to 250 times by weight of aqueous matter and reduces waste disposal costs by maximizing volume expansion less than 1%. Quik-Solid is specially formulated for use in the following applications:
- Solidification of dredge spoils, wet soils and other semi-solid matter
- High efficient solidification agent for Low Level Waste (LLW), Mixed and Hazardous wastes
- Moisture and free liquid control caused by container rain and other condensation
Benefits of Utilizing Quik-Solid®
- Reduces Waste Disposal Costs - Expands In Volume By Less Than 1%.
- Non-Biodegradable Polymer (per 40 CFR 264.314 (e)(ii)).
- Freeze-Thaw Tested : Quik-Solid® Will Not Release Liquids After Freezing And Subsequent
- Heating To 160° F.
- Will Not Release Trapped Ionic Contaminants If Solute Evaporation Occurs.
- Passes Paint Filter Test (EPA 9095).
- Approved For Use At Hanford & Other Licensed Facilities.
- SEG Certified Incinerable Material. Incinerable Polymer With A Heat Value Of 5560 BTU/lbs.
- Strong Ion Exchange Capability Allows For Heavy Metals To Be Bound & Wastes To Pass TCLP.
Quik-Solid® 50
Quik-Solid 50 is a custom blend of granular cross-linked polyacrylate Superabsorbent Polymer and Organoclay. This high performing product rapidly absorbs and retains large volumes of aqueous solutions, while also offering a hydrophobic component to adsorb low soluble organic matter. The absorptive properties of Quik-Solid 50 are ideally suited for the solidification of wastewater, sediments and semi-solids containing organic laden contaminants. Quik-Solid 50 is specially formulated for use in the following applications:
- Solidification of dredge spoils, wet soils and other semi-solid matter
- High efficient solidification agent for PCBs and other hazardous wastes
- High efficient solidification agent for LLW soils and semi solids containing organic contaminants
Benefits of Utilizing Quik-Solid® 50
- Minimal volume expansion reducing overall transportation and disposal costs
- Easy to apply granular media requires little mixing
- Unique sorption mechanism allows for typical adsorption up to 50% (by weight) of organic matter
- Freeze-Thaw tested; will not release liquids after freezing and subsequent heating (160º F)
Quik-Solid® Mats
Quik-Solid Mats are a high-performing yet lower cost alternative to other absorbent fabric products that are used in the hazardous waste or nuclear waste disposal industry. Quik-Solid Mats are made with polyester fabric layers bonded together with a special polyolefin adhesive. The Quik-Solid granular absorbent polymer is imbedded between the layers of fabric and the entire laminate structure is made of non-biodegradable materials.
Benefits of Utilizing Quik-Solid® Mats
- Quik-Solid Mats absorb and retain up to 145 times their own weight in aqueous liquids.
- Quik-Solid Mats are about 1/3 the thickness of conventional absorbent fabrics that are used in the nuclear remediation industry (0.04 cm vs. 0.11 cm). They take up less volume in a container yet still deliver superior absorbency
- All materials are non-biodegradable
- Freeze-thaw tested: Quik Solid will not release liquids after freezing and subsequently heating to 160° F
- Quik-Solid Mats absorb and retain large volumes of condensate and free aqueous liquids in radwaste and hazardous waste containers. Helps to retard the corrosion of metal containers
- Quik-Solid granular absorbent polymer is approved for use at several DOD and DOE facilities
- Quik-Solid Mats are available in Rolls (4’ X 500’)
